I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. From the get go, I didn't think this establishment was worthy of being classified as a 5-star hotel. I offer a fair review based on facts rather than assumptions. Firstly, the bathroom had an awful smell due to a lack of ventilation and no windows that could be opened; this increased the humidity in the bathroom and the room. Secondly, the corridors on the 6th floor where we stayed had a strong smell of hash/marijuana, which was somewhat understandable given Barcelona's relaxed attitude towards the drug, however it should be taken into account that guests may suffer from respiratory problems. Thirdly, the hotel seemed primarily full of commercial or event-related guests, with private guests not being given the same attention or care. Finally, it seemed the hotel paid no attention to maintenance, with many broken appliances going unfixed throughout our stay (e.g. closet, training machines). The plus sides of this hotel were its location and the breakfast offered. Photos were taken to document the issues experienced.
Average stay, nothing out of the ordinary. We stayed here as it was the closest to the cruise ship we had just come off. It cost us £200 for one night. Nothing spectacular about it, just a basic place to lay your head. It was literally on the port, though the location was good, a 15 minute walk to La Ramblas. If we hadn't been on a cruise, we would've stayed in a different hotel closer to the centre. There were plenty of cheaper options closer to the centre, this one being one of the more expensive in Barcelona. Check in was at 3pm, but they let us move to another room that was ready earlier so we could check in, and they stored our luggage for us until then. The pool area was a let down. The pool was tiny, just like most of the other ones in Barcelona's hotels. It didn't open till 11am, which seemed a bit late. We had some drinks and food on the roof top, where the pool was. It was nice and the service was friendly.
We booked a Superior Room, and it was big and clean, impressing us when we got to the room. The walls were thin, so we could hear other doors slamming. Someone even tried to come into our room at 2am, but thankfully they noticed they weren't in the right place! We could also smell cannabis at certain points in the hotel. The only downside to the room was that the TV was positioned in the middle of the room and not in front of the bed, making it difficult to watch TV while lying down. The mini bar in the fridge didn't include anything for free, just some small juices and waters, which we felt should have been complimentary for the price. We had room service available, but there were no menus in the room, you had to scan a code online to get the menu.
We had breakfast included, it was pretty standard, with pastries, teas/coffee's, meats, cheeses etc, it was a help yourself buffet. There was even a small selection of gluten free products. In terms of the local area, it was right on the port. If you come out of the hotel and turn right, then after a couple of lefts it takes you to La Ramblas. It's a 10 minute walk to the bottom of La Ramblas, 30 minutes to Plaça de Catalunya, 1 hour to the Sagrada Família and 30 minutes to Platja de Sant Sebastià beach.
Overall, I'd stay here again, but only if we were using the port for a cruise, otherwise I'd stay closer to the town centre for sightseeing.
We arrived quite early before we could check-in to our rooms, yet the welcoming staff were incredibly helpful and took our bags before we left to explore. They gave us a key card which allowed us to use the pool area on the upper floor. Everything was spotless, the rooms were great, the bathrooms superb and the breakfast was amazing. The roof top bar was also excellent for drinks. The city tour buses have stops right outside the hotel, so we hopped on to see all of Barcelona without needing to take taxis. If you're considering booking at this hotel, don't hesitate - it would be my top choice for each visit to Barcelona.
After finding out our cruise ship was docked right next to a hotel, we decided to book it for an extra night in Barcelona. We arrived around 10.30am, leaving our luggage until our room was ready. To our surprise, the hotel staff not only let us purchase tickets for the city tour bus, but also gave us a complimentary upgrade to a suite! The room was absolutely fantastic, with a powerful air conditioner and a huge bathroom. Everything had been thought of, even toothbrushes and toothpaste! There was a fully stocked mini bar, but we just had water. We even got bathrobes. For dinner, we had delicious tapas and a burger on the terrace with a beer and an ice cream for dessert. The staff were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. We definitely plan on staying there again, the location was great and Barcelona was lovely. We'll need a longer stay next time! We can't thank this hotel enough for making the end of our holiday so amazing.
My stay at this hotel was an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived at 12 pm, the service and welcoming attitude was great. A special thanks to Paula at the front reception who was able to give me a room at 1 pm even though I was so tired from travelling. The restaurant on the first floor was great and the room was big and clean, if only it had a better view. I did appreciate the 8th floor rooftop pool however. One thing I didn't like was that I had to pay taxes for two adults as if it was a double room while I was a single person. The gym was good for the hotel and the location was amazing, situated on the marina and only a 10 minute walk from La Rambla street.
