A great by the sea 5 star hotel

The Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel GL is a great by the sea 5 star hotel. An hotel where everything seems luxury, exclusive and Avant-garde. The building, which resembles a transatlantic liner, is often mistaken for the ships and cruisers which, anchored in the port of Barcelona. It offers terrace, pool, spa and a lot more for a great stay in family or for business..

but sadly they cannot change the location.

Sadly, our experience at this hotel was not what we expected based on the reviews. Had we looked closer into the location, we would have realized that the hotel was not near a marina, but rather, a large industrial ferry and cruise ship port. The diesel smell and constant engine noise was hard to ignore, especially since we had a cruise ship docked so close to our room. The views were equally unappealing, consisting of either office buildings or a taxi rank. The hotel itself was clean, but in desperate need of modernisation. Toilet paper had to be requested three times, and each time the response was unprofessional. The food was also substandard, and despite asking for a room service breakfast for a special occasion, we were still met with disappointment. The reception staff, bar staff, and concierge staff were all lovely, yet they were not able to change the situation.

My stay at this hotel in June 2023 began on an unfortunate note due to a negative encounter at reception. When I asked about a place to freshen up at 1 pm, as I was travelling with a toddler, one individual suggested the rooftop gym rather than the more comfortable first-floor lobby. This left me feeling unfairly treated which tarnished my initial impression. My experience improved however, from my spacious room and the decent breakfast, and Carlos and Othman provided commendable service during my stay. Despite the initial bump, I was able to enjoy five nights in total.

This 5star hotel was close to the Cruise terminal, making it an ideal choice for our one night, pre cruise stay. Unfortunately, there were some issues with the booking that caused confusion for the receptionist, but we were eventually given a twin bedded room with a great view over the port. The cocktails were disappointing; lime juice was inexplicably added to a grey goose martini. The restaurant service was friendly but unprofessional, with a few things missed off our order and the wrong wine list. The food was decent, but these irritants meant we wouldn't choose this place again.

I had a great stay at this hotel which was only a 10-minute walk away from La Rambla. It featured a 24-hour gym, a roof garden with a stunning view of the wharf and the city, and spacious rooms. Unfortunately, the breakfast selection was limited and the lobby decoration was quite plain.

Disapointed I hve to writ thsi review as I had such high hopes in recomending this htel to travle cliets butt most unfortunatelly wont be due to but was let down from th start. Room had an awfull view of office blcoks so no prviacy, windows were not even abel to open so no fresh air. floors were stained. Th spa bath didnt even werk, shower leeked. Do not expect a lay in here as you will get woken up by housekeeping by cleaning as th walls are paper thin you can hear evrything - talkng, doors being closd, opeing and closing of drawers althouh it sounded like they were slamming everything as th walls are so thin. in regards to the amenties there was not a rooftop bar as advertsed, pool could only fit 10 people in for a htel of this size its shocking but was unabel to use it anyway as it was closed off also. No acutal spa onsite, someone comes to your room but for th price you would pay for th service I would expect the full spa exerience espically for a 5* htel! Gym felt really datd and limited also with th spa facng the showers which I found odd. Breakfast buffet offere a reasnable cold selection butt a very poor hot selection but would expect a sit down breakfast being 5* not cold meats and cheeses for breakfast, Didnt evn get to eat breakfast on the last day as was no tables and lack of food so walkd out as it wasnt evn worth it. in my opinon there wasnt th multiple restaurants as advertsed just different seeting selection. I personally just feel ver mislead in what I recieved to what I saw via there websie, A very overpriced Travelodge in my opinon. most defintly not 5* quality. Woud not go back here and unfortuntelly will not be recomending this htel to my travel cliets who expect 5* luxury stays - this is not that. ….
