Axel Hotel Barcelona - Adults Only

I cannot say enough good things about the Axel Hotel Barcelona & Urban Spa- Adults Only. The location was fantastic, and the staff were exceptional. In particular, I must commend Eric at the reception desk for his assistance with all of my inquiries. He was incredibly professional and made my stay all the more enjoyable. The hotel is also conveniently within walking distance of numerous bars and restaurants, as well as the iconic La Ramblas. Without a doubt, I would love to return to this hotel in the future.

I regret to say that my stay was quite unpleasant. Due to a faulty electrical outlet, a fire broke out in my room and filled it with smoke. What was even more concerning was the fact that there were no smoke detectors to alert us. The incident not only ruined my sleep but also caused damage to my clothing. However, to my disappointment, the hotel did not take any action to address the issue. Additionally, the manager's attitude was confrontational and unhelpful. The only positive aspect was the enjoyable brunch. I advise future guests to be cautious until this issue is resolved.

This hotel may not live up to its 4-star rating. I made the mistake of booking here, thinking I was supporting the local community. However, having stayed at a nearby hotel before, I can say that this one falls short in terms of cleanliness and hospitality. The staff are overworked and unable to keep up with all their responsibilities, which can result in long waits at check-in during busy periods. The gym is convenient but the equipment is outdated, and you may end up with rusty clothes after a workout. While the bar may be trendy on the weekends, there are better boutique hotels in the area that truly deserve a 4-star rating. My biggest issue with this hotel, as with the other one in the chain, is that they charge for items in the minibar even if you didn't use them or if they were not there when you checked in. I recommend either asking for the minibar to be removed or thoroughly checking its contents with the front desk upon check-in to avoid being charged for items you never even had. This kind of service is completely unacceptable.

My recent stay in Barcelona was fantastic, thanks to the hotel's prime location and amazing staff. Our interactions with Daniel were always enjoyable, as he was always kind, helpful, and upbeat. We had the pleasure of staying three nights - two before our cruise and one after. The rooms were modern and luxurious, with great amenities. The highlight of the hotel was definitely the rooftop bar and pool with a jacuzzi, offering stunning views of the surrounding neighborhood. While the hotel restaurant and breakfast were lovely, there were plenty of other dining options and shops within walking distance.

As tourists visiting Barcelona, we found the ideal accommodation for our stay. The hotel is situated in a stunning, historic building and boasts a warm and hospitable staff. Its location is unbeatable, with cozy rooms and a fantastic rooftop terrace. The lively bar on the floor below adds to the vibrant atmosphere. The neighborhood is full of character and perfect for exploring on foot. Although breakfast comes at an additional cost, it is well worth the expense. While there may be more luxurious hotels in the city, the one we stayed at had it all. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
