I would highly recommend this place. It is in a really convenient location and near everything. The staff were really helpful and always gave us a friendly greeting. I had a minor problem after arriving and the manager went way out of his way to make sure my stay was excellent. After fixing the issue and apologising, they sent up a bottle of Cava. This was really thoughtful and I truly appreciated it. I'd most definitely stay again. Plus, as they say, "We're Heterofriendly!
I wanted to take a moment to share my honest review on the ??. I was scheduled to stay there in early September, 2023 but was not able to make my reservation due to my dog needing emergency spinal surgery which caused us to cancel our European vacation. Couple things to note in this review: - They have a very strict cancellation policy and will not allow changes 30 days in advance of reservation. (It was our fault that we booked and did not recognize this sooner) - BEWARE and do not book if you may need to change or cancel. ??♂️ - I contacted my credit card company well over 2 weeks in advance of my stay in order to ask for a credit of some sort or a full/partial refund of my stay and was told that they were requesting specific proof showing that my dog was in the hospital and that we would not be able to make the stay. I provided the details but did not hear back from the hotel. ??♂️ - the hotel staff did get in contact with me via email 2 days prior to my arrival (today), to let me know that my cancellation was 100% declined and blamed my credit card company. To me this is just terrible customer service overall. ? I do respect that hotels have special cancellation policies in place. However, given that I provided details and ample time for cancellation, I would expect, as a returning patron, that they would make some sort of effort to remedy the situation. But they did not. ??♀️ This has been an extremely stressful month for my partner and I and we were looking for some empathy given the ample time we provided. The only thing the ?? responded with was a rescheduling. At this time, given our pet's condition, we won’t be able to reschedule anytime soon… the hotel did not care at all. They actually doubled down and blamed the credit card company. We had other hotels planned for our trip to Spain and the others cancelled with no problem. ?
Again, I realize that we should have read the cancellation policy closer but I still think 30 days is very ridiculous….??♀️
My husband and I arrived late and encountered some parking issues, but the ⭐front desk rep⭐ was incredible - tall, black hair, light eyes, and a charming smile! They went above and beyond to solve the problem. We're so glad we stayed here - the room was clean and spacious, and the wood floor was perfect for anyone with allergies. The shower was ?exquisite? and the bed was ?very comfortable?. We also discovered we had a free ticket for Cava in the sky bar - with a stunning view and great music, it was a fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a central location to explore Barcelona from. ?????
Unfortunately my stay at Axel Hotel Barcelona & Urban Spa- Adults Only did not meet my expectations. Only one member of the staff was attentive and gave me all the information I needed for my stay, while the rest were not helpful at all and provided conflicting information about prices and hours. The staff at the sky bar terrace was particularly terrible with conflicting information from one pamphlet to the next, and from the front desk. The wifi was also extremely unstable. Most disappointingly, the spa was booked for private events almost my entire stay, and the $15 Euro per hour fee to use the facilities was extremely expensive. All in all, I will not be returning here.
This hotel had a great location in the middle of the LGBT neighbourhood. Everything was in walking distance. Our room was a good size and the daily housekeeping was excellent. The daily breakfast was okay, although there are better options available while travelling through Europe. The roof pool was a bit small, but had amazing views. The sky bar was lively and it was great to meet people from all over the world. Roberto at check-in was incredibly welcoming and friendly.
