Ramblas is about a 15 minute walk, or a few Euro for a cab ride. We felt safe walking around the area during the day. All in all, we had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Barcelona Universal and we highly recommend it.
Absolutely delightful! We had a great stay at Hotel Barcelona Universal in room 1208. It was a beautiful triple room with a fantastic bathroom. On top of that, the hotel is in an amazing spot and the personnel was extremely accommodating. I can't wait to return! Many thanks to everyone at the Hotel Barcelona Universal!
Didn't get to use the pool as it was closed but from the photos it looks great. The position was excellent, only a few minutes walk from the old town and the main shopping street. The buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful. They had a good selection of both hot and cold options and this was replenished regularly. All in all I would happily recommend this hotel.
I stayed at Hotel Barcelona Universal recently and had an amazing time. The staff were so helpful and accommodating, always willing to help. Our room was modern and spotless, with tea and coffee facilities and a mini fridge. There was a huge window with a beautiful view of the street and surrounding buildings. The location was fantastic, very close to the old town and main shopping street. I didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked really great in the photos. The breakfast buffet was a real treat, with a selection of hot and cold options that was constantly replenished. I had a really wonderful stay here and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona.

Difficult to sum up. We had an amazing stay at the Hotel Barcelona Universal and would definitely stay there again. The positives definitely outweighed the negatives. Most notably, the room was large and comfortable with great bedding, the housekeeping and maid service were first class, and the buffet breakfast was delicious with plenty of variety. The coffee was excellent and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The Metro was conveniently located right out front, making it easy to explore the city. Value for money was also impressive. The only negatives were the fact that the hotel was located on a busy road, meaning it was quite noisy. Additionally, the rooms were a bit worn and in need of a refurbishment soon. All things considered, I would give it a 9/10!
I had an amazing stay at Hotel Barcelona Universal! The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were spotlessly clean with all the essentials, such as a mini bar. The hotel is very conveniently located - just 10 metres from the metro! There are so many local bars and restaurants nearby, in addition to the rooftop which has a pool, gym and solarium with fabulous views of the city. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly! Highly recommend!
