Stunnig view of the sea, the beach and the city..

The second W Hotel established in Europe is the one of Barcelona: W Barcelona opened its doors in October 2009 and one can say that it has already reached the reputation of its famous predecessors of the Starwood Group… Called the Sail, this building designed by the Master Ricardo Bofill is ideally located on the beach, on the entry of the port, in the district of Barceloneta.

Located on the beachfront in the Barceloneta area of Barcelona, W Hotel is, since its opening, the new icon of the city. Could you imagine a kind a sail, set on the sea at the entrance to the Port of Barcelona? A great design from catalan architect Ricardo Bofill known for other projects in Barcelona like the Diagonal Mar renovation, the Olympic Village apartments or more lately the magistral Terminal 1 at Barcelona airport. W Barcelona, popularly known as the Hotel Vela (Sail Hotel) is part of the Starwood hotels group, that is to say that we are here talking about a luxury and highend hotel. The favourite hotel of the F1 pilots..With 473 guest rooms, including 67 suites, with endless sea and city views "W" is the favourite hotel of the F1 pilots during the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Spain. If you like F1 your better book there during the 3 days show..

Rated 8.6 by Booking, 4.4/5 by Google "W" is not only the favourite hotel of F1 pilots by also one of our recommended hotels by the sea in Barcelona.People enjoy luxuriously comfortable slip into this urban oasis by the beach and its unobstructed views of the Mediterranean Sea.You are in the Barceloneta district, that is to say at walking distance of the historic city center, points of interest, shops and best restaurants. You went to stay around? Enjoy 3 hotel restaurants: Bravo24 by Michelin-star chef Carles Abellán, Wave or Salt restaurants. And 3 hotel bars : Eclipse, W lounge and Wet Bar for a fresh tropical cocktail by the pool.We recommend also Pez Vela restaurant by Tragaluz group.. Easy to find it's just on the beach at the entrance of W. Find more restaurants in the Barceloneta on our Where to eat guide.

My significant other and I had an unforgettable stay in a fabulous hotel in Barcelona from 29 October to 3 November (5 nights) to mark the end of my successful battle against cancer. The staff at the hotel were incredibly warm, attentive, and provided excellent service. We were fortunate to be given a room with a breathtaking view of the beach on the 18th floor. Every morning, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the hostess and waitresses at the Fire restaurant during breakfast. Our dining experience at Noxe Japanese restaurant on the 26th floor was also enjoyable. The hotel's spacious indoor and outdoor areas made it convenient for us to move around and access the beach. And let's not forget the stunning night view of the Yacht design Hotel and its surroundings! We highly recommend this hotel - cheers to everyone who made our stay even more special, including the amazing team at the Chat with us service and the housekeeping team, as well as Dikra, Lidia, Rod, Daniel Madeddu, Florencia, Andrea Fuentes, Jenny, Alfonsina, Yrving, Cindy, Duvan, Hisham, Nina, Anna, Guillem and Victor from the front desk, W Lounge and Fire Restaurant, Noxe. Thank you all so much!

During our trip to Barcelona, we stumbled upon this hotel a few summers ago while our cruise was porting for the day. When we planned a longer stay in the city, we immediately knew we had to book a room here. The entire experience, from check-in to check-out, exceeded all of our expectations. The on-site dining, bars, and room service were all top-notch. The added touch of a birthday surprise for my husband during check-in made our stay even more special. The front desk and concierge were always helpful in recommending must-see sights and activities in the city. We can't imagine staying anywhere else on our next visit to Barcelona. The location, right on the Barceloneta and close to various restaurants and bars, is unbeatable. Even at late hours, the beach appeared to be constantly bustling with activity. The bellboys and valet were extremely efficient in arranging transportation, making it easy for us to explore the city. Despite not speaking Spanish, we found it quite simple to navigate our way around.

This hotel boasts a prime beachfront location in the renowned Barceloneta area, offering breathtaking vistas of the Mediterranean Sea. Designed by the acclaimed architect Ricardo Bofill, it stands as a flagship property among Marriott hotels and is even featured as the background image on Marriott Bonvoy Insiders. The Cool Suite I stayed in provided sweeping ocean views, creating the sensation of being on a luxurious cruise. The sunrise is a magnificent sight to behold, truly adding to the experience. The pools are delightful, also offering stunning views of the sea, and the Getaway area is the perfect spot for relaxation. Strolling along the Barceloneta Boardwalk at sunset is a romantic must-do. As a member of the prestigious Marriott group, the hotel's staff were professional, friendly, and met all of my expectations. My stay at this esteemed property was truly enjoyable.

My recent stay at the W Barcelona Hotel was for a convention. My room, located on the 3rd floor, offered a decent view, but it paled in comparison to the higher floors. Despite the noise from the lobby, the room itself was surprisingly quiet. The check-in process was a bit impersonal. On the plus side, the room was spacious and comfortable. However, the same issues from last year persisted with jamming doors for the shower and toilet. This time around, I also noticed water seeping into the room from under the shower door and the make-up area was still poorly lit. Fortunately, there were no electric blackouts during my stay. The conference breakfast was held in the conference area and offered a good selection of healthy food. However, I was disappointed to find that there was no muesli on the second day and it took a while for the kitchen to supply it. Additionally, there were no bowls available at the same time. One of the pools was closed due to the conference, but there was plenty of space on the wet deck. The pool staff were remarkable and the bar was well-staffed, resulting in minimal wait times. Overall, while the W Barcelona is a 5-star gran luxe hotel, attention to detail is necessary to truly elevate the experience.

Visited the city of Barcelona numerous times and have always been in awe of this hotel. The urge to splurge on a night's stay finally hit me when I managed to snag a reasonable deal. From start to finish, it was a luxurious and tranquil experience, with a few minor hiccups along the way. Let me start with the positive aspects. Despite arriving early, the hotel was unable to accommodate an early check-in due to peak season. However, they kindly provided a drink voucher and access to their facilities, which more than made up for it. The pool was the epitome of 5-star luxury, although the prices for food and beverages were exorbitant. Nonetheless, the staff were incredibly accommodating, though at times slightly overbearing. The sun loungers were unlike any I have seen before, resembling proper beds. Both pools were breathtaking. However, I must point out that the indoor pool may not be suitable for those with mobility issues as there are steps everywhere. My room, located on the 17th floor, offered a stunning view of the marina. It was spacious and well-equipped, even with complimentary water. Contrary to other reviews, I had no qualms with the bathroom. Although I do agree that the lighting at the washbasin could be improved, it was not a major issue for me. The air conditioner was impressively quiet, allowing for a peaceful night's sleep without having to switch it off due to noise. Breakfast was exceptional, although the staff were a bit too attentive, bordering on intrusive. While everyone was pleasant, it seemed as though they were trying too hard to impress. After checking out, I had a few hours before my flight and the hotel provided a changing area for a refreshing shower post-swim. However, it was located down several sets of stairs, making it difficult for people with accessibility needs. Thankfully, the concierge graciously assisted me with my bags so I could navigate the stairs safely. On to the negatives. The prices for food and beverages were simply outrageous. While breakfast was included in the deal, the cost for a small bottle of water was €5, and a burger and fries at the pool would set you back a whopping €24. I was too afraid to even glance at the restaurant menu. Another major downside was the noise from the on-site disco. It was incredibly disruptive, and despite previous complaints, it appears that management has not taken any action to address the issue. My room felt like it was vibrating, and I was forced to seek out alternative options for the evening. On a positive note, the noise did subside at 11 pm, so it did not affect my sleep. I cannot say for certain if this was due to complaints or planned. All in all, if I could secure an affordable rate, I would definitely return for another stay because it truly was a great experience.
