This hotel was far from ideal. The lobby felt like a railway station booking counter, overcrowded and uninviting. I'd been here three times before and it seemed standards were slipping. The staff were friendly, but too few and untrained compared to previous visits. The check-in process was slow and unpleasant. Food in the restaurant was ok, though the steak was terrible, and it took an hour after repeated requests for it to arrive. The rooms were just ok but dated, with holes in the curtains. I certainly won't be returning.
A five star building with a two star reception service is what I experienced here. Despite messaging ahead for an early check in for my birthday, no arrangements were made and the request for a higher floor room was not met. As such, I was exposed to noise from the lobby and parties nightly. A later checkout was also dismissed with a mere 30 minutes offered - deplorable! On checkout, I only received an apathetic 'OK' in response to my dissatisfaction. However, the Fire restaurant was absolutely phenomenal and fully attentive - particularly Tamara and Sofie who also made the final day enjoyable with a special birthday cake surprise. Equally great service from beach staff and house keeping, although it was late in the day. To conclude, this place lives up to the hype in terms of a five star building, but the hospitality was not up to par with other establishments of the same caliber. Reception was a complete let down - excessive queues, no name tags, and no clear manager in sight. Average overall.
The views are fantastic but it's far from peaceful. The loudspeakers are constantly playing music, and the restaurants seem obsessed with competing for the loudest atmosphere. Finding yourself a peaceful spot by the sea would be impossible. The breakfast options are quite expensive, unless you opt for the buffet.
My partner had been telling me about this place...and for good reason. Our stay was beyond incredible. From the suite with a seaview to the breakfast, bar, amenities, and the staff - it was simply unbeatable. The staff were unbelievably welcoming and friendly. From Claudio, to Violetta, to Jenny, to Bruno, to Duban, to Melina, to Olinda in charge of the pool area - they lit up every space they were in. Then there was also Louisa who created the perfect cocktail which we named the Sunny Wolf. Our weekend was perfect and all thanks to this hotel. If you're looking for a cool, trendy and chic place to stay in Barcelona, this should be your choice. Any visit to Barcelona won’t be the same without staying here. Once there, you are part of the family.

We stayed at this 5-stars hotel for 6 nights - 10 hours by car just to get there. We expected a much better welcome than we received - and it gave us a bad feeling. Our room smelt musty and damp, and the toilet door didn't even close properly! Plus, the common toilets were untidy, but when you want privacy they are the only option. The water from the shower ran into the bedroom and toilet everyday and other guests had experienced similar problems. We even had a bag of rubbish left on our desk by the cleaning service on day 3. The pool service was slow and we felt forgotten, and the bar service in the lobby was slow, aggressive and unpleasant. On top of that, the keys kept demagnetizing every day and it took a while to fix the issue. When it came to checkout, getting our car back was a difficult experience too - some guests even had to push their own luggage carts out! It seemed that the hotel was understaffed and/or the employees not trained properly, and some conventions taking place didn't help either. All-in-all, it was a nice stay, but this establishment was far worse that other W hotels we've been to in terms of hospitality.
