Mr. P.J. Relish ( Estonia )
For our last two day stay in Barcelona we chose this place. Honestly, we really wish we would have taken our money somewhere else. At first, everything seemed normal - check in was quick. That is all I can say good about this experience. First, we kindly asked for an additional blanket for sleeping, since there were two of us (with my friend). Some time later they brought just a hairy wool blanket with no cover. This is a bit disappointing for a 4* hotel with a price of 250+ eur per night. Second, when the bellboy/assistant Jordie brought the blanket to us, he burst into our room just to rudely say no airconditioning is allowed and turned down our thermostat. This is an inexcusable move since I was just coming out of the shower and could have been changing clothing. Third, when the blanket arrived, it was without a cover. We asked the reception for a cover sheet, and again when the assistant Jordie came with the cover, he could not make it any more obvious that he was bothered with this task and his eyes almost rolled out of his sockets. And I must say - we kept it very professional and never once showed any dissatisfaction with this situation. Fourth, we let the hotel call for a taxi. When the cab arrived, the starting price was 5,59 eur and our trip to the Sagrada Familia cost something around 18 eur. But when we came back, took a taxi from the street, the price was about 8-9 eur (starting price 2,95). The cab company was the same. I think they (the hotel) should have mentioned that when they order the taxi, it is more expensive. Fifth, many of the rooms on the first floor are located just above the breakfast hall, so be ready to hear some extreme rumbling noises starting from 7am. And since the rooms don’t have airconditioning, they get hot and the air runs out. When you open the window, the noise keeps you up as much as the hot room. I know it’s located in the busy area and I don’t expect total quietness, but there was a fine line between the room being too hot, all the noise from downstairs and the noise from the outside when the window is open. Sixth, after check out we left our bags in the luggage hold. That day again that same man Jordi was working. We were politely standing there, waiting for our turn, letting everybody else before us. We had the baggage ticket in our hand – it was very obvious we were there to get our bags, but Jordi just ignored us and walked past us many times, until we went to the reception desk to ask if we were going to get our bags or have to wait any longer? So I’m telling you – you can definitely find a better place to stay, where you won’t feel like a burden.
I was slightly disappointed with my first night at this hotel, ending up placed in the least desirable room. However, the staff were incredibly helpful, finding us a much better room for the subsequent nights. The hotel is incredibly well-located, being just across the square from a famous landmark and with La Rambla only a few blocks away. Furthermore, the breakfast buffet was fantastic, with a huge selection of options, including scrambled eggs, Spanish omelette, meats, cheeses, smoked salmon and more, topped off with a self-serve espresso machine and cappuccino. All-in-all, I would highly recommend this hotel in spite of a rocky start.
I stayed at a great hotel in Barcelona recently, and it was just perfect. ? The entrance was close enough so that a taxi could drop me off, and I was greeted with luggage assistance upon arrival. ??♀️ The check-in desk was a bit small and got crowded easily, but the staff was helpful and quick with luggage. ? The breakfast room was relaxed and featured a large buffet style meal, plus you could dine there for dinner too. ?️ Plus, there was a lovely roof terrace for lunch when the weather allowed. ?️ It's located near the cathedral and the Gothic Quarter, so close to lots of shops, restaurants, and charming pedestrian streets. ?️ I'd definitely recommend it, and it's only 15 minutes from the cruise terminal. ? ⭐️
This hotel surpassed my expectations. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the breakfast was scrumptious, and the rooftop bar was incredible. There was work being done close to our room, although we were out and about exploring the city, so it wasn't an issue. If you book through their website, you get a free drink at the bar - a lovely surprise.
Highly recommended.
We spent 4 days in this wonderful hotel over Easter. The location was unbeatable, directly across from the amazing cathedral, giving us stunning views of all the festivities. It's situated in an ideal part of Barcelona, close to the famous Ramblas and other attractions. The rooms, service and food all excelled, making for a fantastic stay. Highly recommended!
