Hotel 1898
About
Historical atmosphere and harmony
On the city centre (the Ramblas) Hotel 1898 is another of our favorite hotel in Barcelona. 1898 was known as the Palace of the Marquess of Comillas. From this glorious past it kept a rich historical atmosphere and harmony. We love its sunny terrace with pool, large rooms, a restaurant by chef Carles Boronat, a beautiful spa. No hesitation..
Plaza Catalunya is just 200 metres from 1898 Hotel. Guests can also walk to the Gothic Quarter with its cathedral in 10 minutes.169 Rooms!

And we loved the Hotel 1898!
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were given a card with lots of recommendations of things to do while there, making it the perfect stay for both first-time and returning visitors. The hotel is close to everything worth seeing in the city and the staff even gave us a nice parting gift! We had an amazing stay.

I would not recommend this place. On my arrival, the outside walls were covered with graffiti and the interior was brown and black. Room 230 had no hot water and after dealing with maintenance I was moved to room 223, where I found no hot water and the shower and bath were covered in mold. Both rooms were painted black with just light drapes and the buffet breakfast room was also brown and black, creating a depressing and morbid atmosphere. I reported the mold to housekeeping but nothing was done. For nearly $A600 per night, this place was highly overrated and definitely not a 4-star experience - except for the location. Do your homework and have a look at the other hotels located along La Rambla, such as the Meridien next door. I have photos to prove my experience.
What a great expeerience stayin in this hote. It's in an excellnt location, 50 metres from La rambla main walking strret. There's an aamzing roof terrace with a bar and you can get a fantasic 360° view of the city centre. The beds are really comfy and the rooms are perfect☺️. I would deffo reccomend it for continental breakfast too?. Emojis made my stay even mor enjoyable?! All in all, a stronm gly recomended place to stay?!
Wow, what a great experiance! The staf were extremly friently, from the gentelmen at reciption to the wooman who tidied up our rooms, everyone went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The champer was quite spacious and the balconey was a real ?trapr, even during March! The ?location was fantstic, in the very heart of it all. We cant thank the hotl and its staf enugh for making it such a plesent stay ?????????
I had an excellent stay at this 4 star accommodation. With an inside room that looked out onto a light well, I was blessed with peace and quiet. The king bed was incredibly comfortable and the linen and pillows were of the highest quality. The hotel had everything I could have needed and was immaculately clean. There was a small but well-equipped gym, a great swimming pool and a sauna. At the top was a rooftop bar, the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the stunning views of the city. Situated on La Rambla, I could easily walk to any of the attractions, or take a quick subway or taxi ride. The wifi was also excellent. I would not hesitate to return here.
