On the city centre (the Ramblas) Hotel 1898 is another of our favorite hotel in Barcelona. 1898 was known as the Palace of the Marquess of Comillas. From this glorious past it kept a rich historical atmosphere and harmony. We love its sunny terrace with pool, large rooms, a restaurant by chef Carles Boronat, a beautiful spa. No hesitation..
Plaza Catalunya is just 200 metres from 1898 Hotel. Guests can also walk to the Gothic Quarter with its cathedral in 10 minutes.169 Rooms!

This hotel truly exceeded our expectations. The value for money was exceptional and the location was perfect for our stay. We were impressed by the attentiveness of the front desk staff who were incredibly helpful throughout our trip. The rooms were immaculately clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The standout memory for us was definitely the front desk staff, particularly Roberta. The prime location of the hotel allowed us to safely explore every corner of the city on foot.
This accommodation is situated in a fantastic location, however, the service and food provided are mediocre. Guests are expected to carry their own luggage to their rooms, which was quite inconvenient. Additionally, during breakfast, customers have to make their own coffee and tea and hot dishes like eggs are only available upon request.
The service provided by the hotel staff was of top-notch quality. Additionally, the various amenities available were also exceptional. The hotel's location was conveniently situated. Our package included breakfast and dinner, a great option to have. The spa pool with Hydro jets was truly incredible and provided a great way to relax. The pillows and sheets were also of great standard. Overall, our experience at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional and we would not hesitate to return.
This accommodation is conveniently located near the Gothic Quarter, the coastline and city tour buses. The overall quality and furnishings of the rooms were exceptional, and the staff provided excellent assistance and hospitality. The rooftop bar offers a picturesque view, and the restaurant serves mouth-watering dishes.
This hotel provided a pleasant stay in a practically perfect location. We were especially impressed by the exceptional service we received - it was beyond our expectations. It was even more enjoyable when the staff surprised us with a special birthday celebration. The warm welcome and excellent service made our experience truly memorable. We must also mention the highly recommended breakfast - it was the best we've ever had. Unfortunately, during our stay, we found out that the rooftop was under renovation, which was disappointing as we were looking forward to spending time there. Also, the steam area in the spa was closed, leaving only the nice (but a bit chilly) pool and sauna open. The bar area in the lobby was quite spacious but seemed unoccupied, possibly due to the time of year. It's worth noting that you may hear the metro from some parts of the hotel, but it wasn't a problem for us. This is a common occurrence in many hotels in central Barcelona. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel.
