Overall a great stay!
Basic but clean, warm and comfortable room. We were glad we upgraded to a high level room with an incredible panoramic view of the city and no noise! The hotel's location was also good as it was close to transport links and La Rambla was just a short walk away. The WiFi in our room worked excellently. We would highly recommend the restaurant next door to the hotel. The reception area was nice and had a free tea/coffee vending machine. The television in our room was mostly in Spanish with the exception of BBC World News and some engineering channel. As part of a BA Holidays package, the hotel's value was fantastic so we had no complaints. The hotel also had a lovely rooftop terrace that had a pool, which must be even better in the warmer weather.
Overall, our stay at the Hotel Barcelona Universal was amazing!
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the bar and restaurant at the top of the hotel is great for a meal and drinks. All in all we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend the hotel.
My friends and I had a wonderful time staying at the Hotel Universal Barcelona for my birthday last month. From the outside, it looks modern and stylish, with 10 floors. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from La Rambla and a 20 minute walk to the beach. It is also very conveniently situated right beside the metro, making it accessible both by foot and public transport. Our room was very clean and spacious, with a comfy bed, and the staff were all incredibly helpful and kind. Additionally, there was a wonderful pool and bar/restaurant at the top of the building, with a stunning view. The only downside is that the wifi was not working throughout the hotel - it seemed to be a weak signal. All in all, it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend it - it was perfect for a birthday stay!
The worst night in my life, loud noise coming from air conditioning, kitchen fridges, and more. I rang reception but they said they'd check it in the morning. I then asked them to come to my room to check, but they said there were no other rooms available. I felt helpless. Nobody checked anything, the noise went on and on, getting even louder. I came to Barcelona from Italy for a very important exhibition, but it was impossible to focus and I got zero minutes sleep. 4 stars hotel? I'm not sure who gave them that rating.
Will be returning next year.
This hotel was excellent. The location was central to the city, making it easy to walk everywhere. We took the train from the station nearby to get home, and the tickets cost around 5.20 euros. We took the Bus 46 from the airport to the hotel, which cost just 2.40 euros. The hotel also surprised us with a pack-up breakfast before our early flight home. The breakfast was also excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family, and I'm looking forward to coming back next year.
The stay at Hotel Barcelona Universal was a pleasant experience. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The location of the hotel was perfect, with the metro station just in front of the reception. Being able to access almost anywhere in the city quickly and easily was a great convenience. Plus, there were a variety of local restaurants, cafes and 24 hour markets nearby. The room was clean and spacious and the radio system in the room and bathroom provided an extra layer of relaxation. We definitely would stay here again and wholeheartedly recommend it.
