Staying at this particular accommodation was an overall pleasant experience. The room was spotless and the bathroom was similarly immaculate. The location was great, situated close to nearby beaches and public transport links to the city centre. That said, it did take a 20 minute journey to get there. The only downside was the below average breakfast.
Booked a room via the website with check-in promised from 10am, only to be told it wasn't allowed when we arrived. After managing to leave our luggage, we had to come back three hours later, where the staff couldn't do anything before 3pm. We were offered a room but then had to pay an additional 26 euros for tax, which was not stated when we booked. The 8th floor we stayed on had a prison-like atmosphere with a cage-like barrier outside the window, and we weren't informed of morning construction from 7-8am. There was barely any storage and only two towels, with no other bathroom amenities. Despite trying to get help and emailing afterwards to complain, nothing was done and we were met with silence.
My stay at the Travelodge Barcelona Poblenou was pleasant overall. The reception was open for extended hours which was a great security measure, however the breakfast could use some improvement - the bread was dry and stale while the cucumber was dry and bitter. In addition, I would have liked to have seen more cut up fruits.
I stayed at this accommodation for a short 6 hour period, and experienced cold showers in the middle of the night. When I complained to the front desk, there was no response or compensation given. Additionally, the noise level on the street was quite loud, even on the 9th floor. The location was also unfortunately quite a distance from the airport.
This hotel was a great option for the price. Cleaning could have been better, but was not a major issue. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly throughout our stay, making our experience even better. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a quality place to stay without breaking the bank.
