The second W Hotel established in Europe is the one of Barcelona: W Barcelona opened its doors in October 2009 and one can say that it has already reached the reputation of its famous predecessors of the Starwood Group… Called the Sail, this building designed by the Master Ricardo Bofill is ideally located on the beach, on the entry of the port, in the district of Barceloneta.

Iconic hotel on the peninsula overlooking Barcelona, harbor and Mediterranean Sea. An impressive experience starting from the luxurious lobby with plenty of space to the wonderful service offered. Bellboys, receptionists, concierge and even the room service staff were on point and always available. As for the room, I stayed on the lower floor and still managed to wake up to a view of the sea and promenade. Beds were incredibly comfortable, merging perfectly with the fluffy treats to make every night a great one. The bathroom was also large, equipped with anything you may need. As for the food, the breakfast was delicious, offering lots of options and the dinner at Salt restaurant was simply amazing. Overall, visiting W Barcelona was a great experience and it's now firmly on my list of the best hotels I have ever visited.
I was offered an unforgettable experience at W Barcelona. Everything was perfect, and the staff were very professional and welcoming. From Bellman Franco, who was very attentive to our needs and made our stay special, to FD Lydia, who made sure to give us an amazing room with a stunning view, IRd Juan Carlos who provided us with amenities without us having to ask, PBX Eduardo, who got our express laundry quickly, and Ornela from IRd who was very discreet, the service was top notch. On Feb 20th around 10 pm, I asked for hygiene amenities, and despite the elevator issues, I arrived to my room to find them already waiting for me. A remarkable experience that I would gladly relive. It was an absolute pleasure staying at the W Barcelona. The location was great; it was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city to feel peaceful, but still close enough to everything that we wanted to explore. The accommodations were luxurious and the staff was absolutely delightful. They were always so friendly and accommodating, from check in to the restaurant servers. We had such a wonderful time and can't wait to come back for another visit soon! Highly recommend if you are looking for a beautiful place to stay in Barcelona.
Overall, I can not recommend W Barcelona to another traveler.
Despite the incredible views of the ocean and the helpful and kind staff, I cannot recommend W Barcelona for its awful customer service and inconvenient location. I experienced two members of the staff at checkin to be incredibly rude and when I returned to my room after a long business day, I was shocked to find that it had not been cleaned. Unless you want to go for a walk in the boardwalk by the beach, I would not recommend the hotel. Furthermore, it is not centrally located and a taxi must be taken everywhere. Therefore, I cannot recommend W Barcelona to another traveler.
The W Barcelona is a stunning hotel and highly recommended spot to stay, whether on business or pleasure. The friendly and helpful staff and cozy beds made for a great stay. The amenities also add to the experience with their delicious coffee, breakfast buffet and tasty martinis. The fun “wow” button and unique decor, will make any stay an unforgettable one.
